The “Trail of
Tears” national college tour maps the rich cultural journey of America’s first
people. The traveling exhibit brings to life several important events and
historical accounts which contextualize the Native American experience. Through
historical illustrations, photos, literature, video documentaries and authentic
artifacts, we explore the beauty of the unique culture of the nations of the
Cherokee, Iroquois, Seminoles and Navajo.
The Native
American Exhibit (NAE) is a multimedia presentation that showcases the
relationship between the Native American past and its present. We examine their
gruesome struggle against exploitation, leading to the great death march of the
trail of tears. To their overcoming adversity with production of several
fascinating accomplishments in science, aerospace, communication, health care,
agriculture, sports, entertainment and art. With their ultimate declared
sovereignty, America finally recognizes these mighty people.
Patrons will also
learn about the patterns of the lives of the Native American people with portrayals
of their history, crafts, spirituality, technology and how it’s incorporated
into their daily life.
